Whenever someone has said to me that there is no God and I have responded that there is, although surprised by my conviction, what has always had a real impact on them are the words that ‘we have seen Him and found every beauty in Him’[1] and you can see Him too.

A Khalifa is a successor of a Prophet of God because he follows in the footsteps [2] of a Prophet and renews faith. Through him, the spiritual slumberers are awakened from their sleep, enabling them to lead pious and righteous lives. Why? Because they come to know of their Creator. Today, Ahmadiyya Islam is the only religious platform that offers the promise of this certainty, not simply the offer of faith, but also in ascertaining the existence of God.

It cannot be that the God Who is presented by the light of man’s heart, by the conscience of man, and by heaven and earth [3], should be limited to the affirmation that there should be a Creator and not with complete certainty that there is. No one wants to waste their life without knowing for certain whether their path is true or not.

Without the guidance of those who are from God, there could never be in the world any real and complete proof of God.  It is such people who enable others to witness the existence of God and, by providing fresh evidence and signs, it is as if they are able to ‘show’ God to others.[4] Through Khilafat, faith and belief progress to certainty.

I can recall the many times I have prayed to God and wanted to receive a certain response from Him as a means of satisfying my heart. Who else could know what my heart had yearned for? But God proves His existence and the truthfulness of His Khalifa by informing him of things that no one else could possibly know. To hear those exact words, you wanted to hear from God through His beloved is a feeling that cannot be described in words but only understood through experience.

Then there was the time when I prayed to want to meet my Lord, crying out to Him, where are You? And on that same day, which also happened to be Eid, I entered the mosque unaware of what was to come, and I saw His beloved walking straight towards me, an opportunity for me to seek his love and blessings. Truly, all odds were against me. But one cannot even calculate the infinite permutations through which God can guide whom He desires. I saw the truth yet again, and whilst tears shed uncontrollably, I had a smile on my face and my heart proclaimed God indeed You have proved to me once again that You exist and that this is the truth.

Then another time when my mum had prayed, and God had informed His Khalifa about her distress on the morning of the day we were to have a family mulaqat (private meeting) with the Khalifa. The beloved of God related it to us and how he had prayed for her. Indeed, you can search the corners of the earth but there is no comparison between Khilafat and other worldly or secular leaders.

So, whenever my heart has had a hunger and thirst for meeting God, God has affirmed through His Khalifa that I am here. This is what you gain through love and loyalty to the Khalifa of the time, the rope of Allah,[5]-the fruit of ‘security and peace’.[6] Certainty of faith cannot be acquired through mere stories or mere arguments.

Indeed, miracles and signs are not tales of the past. They are still manifested even today through Khilafat!

As the Promised Messiah (peace be on him) stated that a tree is recognised by its fruit, and the fruits of Islam can be tasted by all even today.[7]
