The Ark Of Khilafat

Mahrukh Arif-Tayyeb, Newcastle

We live in a rather strange world where everything we do, say or sometimes even think is tracked and exposed at a fast pace. This over-exposure can blur our judgement and our ability to sit back and think through and contemplate. Whenever we are dealing with a difficult situation, we seek instant solutions; when we are faced with a heated argument, we seek instant reactions and instant actions. The world whole seems to be trapped in this loud chaos and brouhaha of our current existence which has brought so much restlessness and anxieties into our lives. But there is one man, whose silence and resilience brings peace and security. His silence is so powerful, that it results in God to speak on his behalf.

This man faces so many hardships, but always chooses to talk about the favours that God bestowed upon him. This man listens to so many tragedies, but always chooses to carry a smile. He is the leader of a community of millions and never, for a day, has he failed to deliver. Any true believer should be absolutely convinced that this man’s spectacular resilience, his endearing compassion, wisdom and faith in God would never let our ark sink. This man is His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, may Allah be his Helper, the fifth and current Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Without Khilafat, we would all be trapped in the constant noise surrounding our lives and maybe lose ourselves in it. Khilafat brings about a vision, a centre and a direction to our existence. Many times, when I felt lost mentally or spiritually, a simple letter to this man has relieved my anxieties. Many a time, attaching the name of this man of God to my prayers has brought peace to my aching soul. Every Ahmadi Muslim knows that if they need to speak about anything, they can send a letter to their Khalifa who would provide the satisfaction even their own parents sometimes fail to bring.

The Promised Messiah (peace be on him) knew quite well that his Community would feel hopeless after his demise. But he reassured his Community that his passing would pave the way for another divine favour which is Khilafat. Let us never forget that Khilafat is a divine blessing and be assured that it cannot be anything else. Without Khilafat, there is no ark in this turbulent world and no hope to be saved. But God has promised security and peace only to those who would sit in Noah’s Ark with a pure heart, sincere intention, and unshaken faith. Prophet Noah’s (peace be on him) own son refused to come aboard the Ark and got drowned in front of his eyes. For in matters of faith, blood does not hold any value. Righteousness and obedience only will allow us to gain God’s pleasure.

In today’s day and age, this Ark is led by the Khalifa of this time, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, may Allah be His Helper and is the only ark to board.

So, lose not hope, nor fall into despair and hold on tight to the rope of Khilafat for it is undoubtedly the rope of Allah.
