Khilafat – The Rope Of Allah In Our Times

Khilafat – The Rope Of Allah In Our Time

Attiya Shaukat, Leamington Spa

I was born into my faith.  But I have always questioned what I love and found such answers that inspire a better understanding of God. With God’s grace, not once have I been left unsure.

At the beginning of Islam, it was the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) who guided people to the right understanding of the Quran. The companions who differed on some verses, would seek the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) judgement and his interpretation would unify the companions into one thought. Islam today is split into 73 groups, so, how do we decide on the one from God?

The Holy Quran reminds us to ‘all together’ grab on to ‘the rope of Allah and be not divided’ (3:10) the verse expounds the virtues of the rope and its ability to unify as brethren. Thus, the entire verse is a ‘guidance’ (3:10) in helping decide the rope of Allah.

Sadly the Islam of today, portrayed by the mainstream Muslim clergy, in most cases is far cry from brotherly love. On one hand, we see a cash-rich Muslim country bombarding a starving one and on the other hand Muslim groups spew death edicts, hailing murder of my ahmadiyya Muslim Community members and other Muslims as commendable act of God. Although the murderers and the murdered share the same creed.

Islam is at a very bleak hour. Muslim despite having the same Quran differ amongst its verses and are in disunity.  But I do not believe that God has left us dwindling on earth without a rope to climb the heights of heavens.

The rope of God today is Khilafat.  This peaceful institution through evidence-based arguments, seeks to bring the true Islam taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) to humanity.

The Khalifa, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad (May Allah be his Helper) always gives guidance to serve mankind. For example, he stated at the height of the pandemic ‘whatever is possible for the welfare and help of people, should be done’.  (20th March 2020)

Thus Community members inhabiting whichever country globally stepped up. A Canadian woman one night said, she would believe in God, if she could obtain a medicine for her very ill son. She phoned a Ahmadi youth helpline at 2 am, the Ahmadi youth who was attending the phone call was told the condition of her son, and despite the fact that he was asleep prior to the call, he left his house in the middle of the night, drove 50 kilometres and delivered the medicine to her. Through this young man’s efforts she came to believe in God.
(Friday sermon May 22 2020)

The example of how the community has been assisting ‘all together’ on a global scale is unique. Without discrimination, the members have been aiding in those countries, that wish death upon us.

Seeing the whole world as a family is a grace of God, it takes away bitterness, desire for reward and allows one to serve as one serve fraternity. Today, I only see Khilafat teaching this humanity.
